Cant get Laptop to boot
Hi, I hope I am posting this in the right section,
I have an old Toshiba Satellite 2000CDS laptop that I have not used in a few years that I was trying to get to work. The last I used it it worked fine. It has Windows 98 installed on it. When I first turned it on, I got a memory test, it then went into the CMOS setup where I believe it listed the boot sequence for the different drives, me not paying attention I didn't bother to look at what this was set for, so I said escape with no changes. I now have a "Invalid system disk. Replace the disk, and then press any key" error. Now every time I start the laptop, I see the memory test and then it goes to this screen. I have now been able to enter the BIOS system setup using the ESC key and F1. Under hard disk, the HDD mode is set to Enhanced IDE(Normal). and the Boot Priority is: FDD>HDD. I don't know if this is correct or is there I something I should change. I changed the boot priority to HDD>FDD and this did not resolve the issue. Even if I could just get the machine to the C: prompt I would be able to do something with it. I am afraid the hard drive may be bad but wanted to check everything else first. Thanks for the help.
