I just did that and for the first time the computer booted, Anyway having said that i booted with the first option cd support but the cd drive is still not working, Also when i got to the c:\ prompt and typed dir. the message was Invalid Media type reading drive C, What Next?

Hi Gayle,

You wanted some DOS commands, here's one I think might just work!! Boot using that same disk you used to access the c: drive. This time, before typing in c:, type in the following command: fdisk /mbr

Ok, i just tried that and nothing much happened {i was expecting it to do something great!} just another A:\ prompt, so i took the boot disk out and rebooted then got this message, Missing operating system,.... Well that is better than that blinking cursor! lol, so i done scandisk.exe and it said no problems on drive A:\ {should i have changed it to the C:\ prompt?} I told you i wasn't very good at this, Waiting for my next command, lol

First of all, see what's on that drive, we might end up back at square one if the operating system is missing or damaged - getting the CD-ROM drive working to re-install Windows.

Check this by using the commands:
c:
dir /w
and you should see a folder called Windows?

The commands for scandisk is:
a:
scandisk c:

Well i did that and the message was, Invalid media type reading drive C, Abort, Fail Retry, i did retry and still the same so i did F and it said fail on INT 24,

* `1`Im not sure but i think my C: drive has changed to D: and my D: drive is now E: lol You couldn't make this up, i think Gremlins have moved in to that computer,Well i suppose it can't get any worse,lol

Anyway in the now D:\ drive it lists, ...Volume in drive D:| is MS- Ramdrive, Directory of D:\ ATTRIB.EXE,CHKDSK.COM, COMMAND.COM,DEBUG.EXE.EXTRACT.EXE,FORMAT.COM,HELP. BAT,MSCDEX.EXE,README.TXT,RESTART.COM,SCANDISK.INI ,SYS.COM,
15 Files ....595.062 bytes,.. Dir,...1,486,848 bytes, o Free, and in the E:\ drive it lists CDR101: Not ready reading drive E:\ What do you think?
