I am trying to uninstall AVG free version but if I click start and go to programs it doesn't appear anywhere. The only place it shows up is if I click start and then "find" it shows up with the icon and the word viruses next to the icon. There is no uninstall button anywhere, any help would be greatly appreciated as always.

Try downloading AVG again, and install it over the one you currently have (which I assume to be corrupted). Then try uninstalling it from Add/Remove Programs.

I have removed it from the add/remove list, but if i look under start , then find the drop down window shows the avg icon with the word viruses next to it. When I restart my computer it says it's missing this component but I need to uninstall it to totally remove it. How do I uninstall it if it isn't anywhere to found in my programs menu ?

That's why I said AVG could be corrupted. Download it again, and install it. Then try uninstalling it again.

FYI when you install AVG 8.0 it automatically removes the prior version so need to go back to Add/Remove.
