Question [Answered] please help i m stuck

i replaced my advapi32.dll file in win98 (62kb) with another one downloaded from the net(602 kb) now my windows 98 doesnt start at all even in safe mode i have xp also on another partition. I dont have a copy of the old file please help me.

You actually do have a copy of the old file - it's on the installation disc.

Extract a new copy of the Advapi32.dll file using the System File Checker tool. To start the System File Checker tool, click Start, click Run, type "sfc.exe" (without quotation marks) in the Open box, and then click OK.

For information about how to use the System File Checker tool to extract a file, click Start, click Help, click the Index tab, type "system file" (without quotation marks), double-click the "System File Checker" topic, click "To extract system files from your installation disks," and then click Display.
