Question [Answered] I need help

Okay here goes,
I gave my brother a really old computer running windows ME i know Ewww but yah know
At one point i had had the computer updraded with a new video card
I told my brother "make sure you NEVER plug the monitor into the top monitor plug" So what did he do? He plugged the monitor into the top plug, the old video card.,
We are getting a message saying the computer has regocnized the new video card (the bottom plug) to go into the control panel and to disply to adjust this. But we cannot go any further into the computer to get to the display options. That's with the monitor plugged into the old video card.
When we plug the monitor into the new video card the PC starts up but stays on a black screen and will not load completely up. I will start in safe mode and go all the way to the desktop but we cannot seem to fix it in safe mode.
We have the installation CD
We are not getting a found new hardware message
when i go to device manager the video card looks fine,
Please Help if you can

Hi-- welcome to PCHF

Sorry for the long wait...

I would try running the new card installation from safe mode-- it should be able to reset everything-- you have the CD.

When you get it fixed-- put a piece of tape over the old card's plug.
