Hi the tech team should be along soon couple of questions in the meantime.

What did you partition it as?

For 98 it should be FAT or FAT32, NTFS is not supported by 98.

How to Install Windows 98 on a Computer with No Operating System

Thats the full guide to installing from the horses mouth walter. it explains how to partition and format the drive as well so its quite handy.

what upgrader said is correct you need the drives to be in FAT or preferably FAT32 for windows 98 or 98se, these and NTFS are just the way your computer knows where all the files on your hard drive are, when you perform a 'quick' format of a disk (hard or floppy, fnarr fnarr) the only thing that is deleted is the FAT. FAT is file allocation table and NTFS is NT file system which is basically the best one but as said above, isnt compatible with windows 98.

FYI - NTFS = New Technology File System - it was designed for Windows NT (New Technology)

Now is used for Windows NT, 2000, XP, Vista

FAT32 stands for File Allocation Table 32bit
FAT16 - obvious

FAT32 has a size of 2gb max file size.
