Thanks so much for the information and help. I just again tried to find the cpu or the mhz but do not have a clue where it is. I keep going deeper and deeper into the computer properties by right clicking and ended up in motherboard information but not sure if that was what I wanted. I thought all computers listed the mhz on that square that comes up when we click on properties. Will keep trying. I know should not attempt the update but so many folks do without that much difficulty from what I am reading. Again, so much controversy over this. Sue

Download this little program from SIW Sue, a lot of the information you will have no need of at this juncture but keep the program anyway.
This will give you the size of the cpu that you have.

SIW Download

Hello MsSue.
Heres a little system information utility that will tell you just about anything you need to know about your system, including the processor speed. There are still lots of software available for 98, just make sure before you install anything that its compatible. I know this one is, i have it on one of my machines with 98. Its an executable, so you dont have to actually install it. Just download it to the desktop or a favorite folder and run from there:
SIW - System Information for Windows - Software, Hardware, Network
I agree with Wolfeymole 100%, i would never buy a machine that didnt come with an XP installation disk, or one that had a recovery partition instead.

EDIT: Sorry Wolfeymole, now that is what you call typing at the same time.!!!LOL

It's ok mate lol, personally I hate it when it happens to me and Monkey gets in first.

Otherwise Sue, if you give us the model number of your BRIO, I've upgraded quite a few of these. The BRIO's are normally around 333 to 800mhz CPU. I'm pritty sure any BRIO can be upgraded. If it's an XE310 or above, you'll have no problems upgrading, but the older BRIO's do tend to stuggle.
