Question [Answered] WIN ME partial OS install

Hello to all,
I was hoping someone could give me a few pointers or suggest something for my current dilemma. I have this old Presario (5302RSH) that got all kinds of viruses on it. I tried everything, but it had some nasty trojeans and hijackers on it, so I wiped it clean.

Theres no OS on it right now. I want to stick ME on it, and I've booted up in DOS and repartitioned and formatted the drive. I have a burn copy of WIN ME (legit, I copy all my OEMs, just in case, like this example, one of my kids use it for a surfing board across the living room.) When I burned it, it didnt burn like a BOOT disc like I thought it would (my inexperience). The OS files are in a folder <winme>

So I'm trying to install WIN ME onto this Compaq. The drive is being read and I got 14 of the EXE files into C:, but i cant figure out how to path the entire setup in.

I can check the DIR and see it in C:. I've tried the E:\> copy e: c: (or something like that, I'm not at home.) But nothing. It just keeps giving me an error that the file couldnt be copied.

Am I complete zipperhead on this one? Is there hope or another way? I could try XP but I'd have to use the same type of burned disk.

Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

Why not use the original copy of Win ME instead of the copy? If memory serves me correctly ME had to be booted off a floppy as well. If you do not have the origanal bootdisk, go here and get a bootdisk and then start again...

Bootdisk.Com - Free NTFS Boot disk, Boot Disk, Windows boot disk, XP Bootdisk, DOS Bootdisk

I cant use the original disc, my little girl used it for a tea set coster or something and it chipped and cracked. I'm using a BOOT disk, and i've reformatted and all. I'm just having a heck of a time loading the entire load of files to the C: DIR. Cant figure out how to copy them over or path them through DOS. Can tfigure it out though. thanks for the suggestion though,

If your suited and booted or in other words are a legitimate owner of Millenium Edition just get on to horn to MS or is it an OEM disk?
Btw even kids need something bigger than a cd to skate on.

You'll have to tell them where you bought it and when you registered ME if it's a stand alone version of XP unlike an OEM version, for example from Dell or HP, then you will have to get on to the manufacturers.
