[Answered] Win98 se startup problem
Hello all,
I live in Washington State. Last week while I was out of town, we had a bit of a wind storm. The PC was on at the time of the power failure. When the power came back on, the pc will not boot all the way. It starts to load then I get the message "it is now safe to turn your computer off". It will boot in safe mode and I have tried to reinstall win98 3 times in hopes of overwriting the start up files. No luck. Before reinstalling I ran regscan from dos. It did not find any errors. I also backed up the registry at that time. During the reinstall, windows does find an error and installs the backup registry, which is the one I just made and is most likley bad also. I do have another registry backup but it is over 1 year old. Any ideas?
Thanks,
Tony
