Default [Fixed] .avi problems

Hi all, I am new here and found a fix to a problem I was having with windows 98 second ed., KCD123 had the answer to a brmemory.vxd problem I had for 4 years and it was fixed in 2 simple steps and I am now hooked by your site here. I am having a problem playing some, but not all, .avi files in my Realplayer. It says Realplayer needs to search for software upgrades to play the video(audio works fine), but I never get an answer or when I do it says no updates available. Any help would be great!!!!
Jim

Hi epackage,

how come your under a new username?

If you download the codec package for Windows 98 here, this should sort out any problems you have: Codec Installation Packages for IT Professionals

e, did the download link I gave you work?

It could also be the .avi file itself, if it is corrupt or not true .avi. There are also different versions of avi, such as DivX (DivX Pro Codec).

e, both Microsoft Codec and DivX didn't work? These are the most popular.

If not, and your sure these work on other computers, how were these avi's created?
