Default [Fixed] Missing rundll.exe file.WIN 98SE

I installed a hard drive with win98SE and everything was working fine until i tried to load additional software and then everything went screwy.......I have an error message stating that I am missing the rundll.exe file and I have no orginal CD for this OS and just have start up disk. Is there anyway to restore the system to another date as it was working perfectly yesterday when I first installed the hard drive into the system. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Kevin

Hi kcd123, Windows 98 doesn't have a system restore utility like windows XP does.

Does the file actually exist in the c:\windows folder? If it does, then a lot of rundll errors relate to spyware, and would recommend following the link to PCHF Prework on my signature.

There are also tons of places to download dll files for free.

you should absolutely scan your PC first-- if possible, of course.

DllDump - free dll files. download dll files you need immediately!

OK, if it's rundll32.exe, click here: Download

Extract the file to the windows directory.

If that fails, then follow prework. There is a worm called W32.Sircam that renames this file, so hopefully prework will identify this or any other problem.

OK i downloaded the rundll file to my windows directory but that didn't seem to help. I downloaded Spyware but cant run it as it says "cannot run with current OS installed or connect to internet which I cannot do". Help....what can I try next as I can't open any programs such as "Add and remove Programs" because it says it cannot find the "rundll.exe" file even though it is in my windows directory. I noticed it is an application file but I am not sure if that is good or bad. Please help........really frustrating !
Thanks you
Kevin
