Default [Pending] Windows 98 won't start up

Hi everybody, i'm new here.
I'm trying to fix an old PC but i'm usually a mac guy.
Well my problem is that the computer starts
up and shows the text:

"Award Modular BIOS v4.51PC, An Energy Star Ally
Copyright (C) 1984-98, Award Software, Inc.

60-0310-2A69JD1c-v3.10

PENTIUM II-MMX CPU at 266mhz
Memory Test : 131072K OK

Award Plug and Play BIOS Extension v1.0A
Copyright (C) 1998, Award Software, INC.
Detecting IDE Primary Master ... WDC AC35100L
Detecting IDE Primary Slave ... None
Detecting IDE Secondary Master... None
Detecting IDE Secondary Slave ... None
_"
Then just stops there and nothing happens
with the little line blinking.

But I can go to the BIOS settings by pressing Del
for the first few seconds.

I'm not sure if this is a hardware
or software problem.
Can anybody help?

Hya Tedwin, welcome to PCHF.

Is there already an O.S. on the harddisk? If you are trying to install windows then check the connections/jumper setting for the cd/dvd drive, it is not detected by the bios and wont work.

a zip drive and i'm not sure if it is detecting it.
And i'm not sure if there is an OS on it or not.

Sounds like it doesn't have an os on it, does it have a floppie drive?

If yes then you could try out bootdisk's from the link below in my sig from bootisk.com.

Yes it has a zip drive, and
yes I have a boot disk, but
when I stick it in and start the computer it just
does the same thing I told you before.

What type of zip drive do you have, how is it connected to the pc?

And have you checked the bootorder in your bios to see if it is setup to boot from it before the harddisk? (if it is capable to boot from)
