Default [Fixed]Uninstalling 98SE

Hi
I have an HP computer which has 30 GB HD, pentium 3 and 512 mg installed memory.
I did a check via PC PItstop and I am told that this computer has enough "ingredients" to have XP installed.
I have read so many articles on how to uninstall 98SE, that I am totally confused.
I do not have Windows 98SE in the Add/ Remove section, which adds to my problem.
If anyone can tell me the simplist method of uninstalling 98SE completely, I would be most grateful.
Thanks in advance.

That machine should work ok with XP, im running it on one with less horsepower, and it works ok. If you have the emergency startup floppy for 98, you can use the fdisk utility on it to reformat the drive. But if youre going to install XP, it will do it for you as you install. Just follow the onscreen instructions, its fairly simple.

Edit: sorry, i forgot to put this

This should guide you through it, lots of good info there

Hi again uncleed
My thanks to you---I now have XP installed and NO 98SE!!
However, I noticed a problem---I see that I have only have 256MB Ram installed---not too sure what happened to the other 256Mb
Any thought how I can retrieve the "LOST" memory?
Thanks again

Hi Snoopy, do you have 1 stick of 512mb or 2 sticks of 256mb?

If 2 sticks, open your case up and make sure they are bot correctly plugged in still.
