Default [Fixed] Problem Central (Win 98 Install)

Hi, i've recently been given the task of reinstalling windows 98 onto one of my older PC's. Having just graduated from 3 years of Uni (Comp Science), reinstalling 98 should have been a breeze, or it should have been. Having hit a few snags in the format/fdisk i successfully installed windows 98, or so i am led to believe.

I've now hit several more snags which i can't seem to fix.

The Motherboard is a MX3S 370 chipset, i've upgraded the bios to the last updates, and it's solved several of the problems.

Problem 1.

The PC does not list my CD/R drive in 'Device Manager' or in 'My Computer', however i was able to install Windows 98 using the CD. I've checked the jumper setting, and checked the cables, and they are all how they are supposed to be.

Problem 2.
Several drivers have eluded me, having searched the internet for drivers, i cant seem to find the right one.

MPU-401 Compatible
PCI Communication Devuce
PCI Ethernet Controller
PCI Multimedia Audio Device

I've downloaded possible drivers, but i cannot load them untill Problem 1 is solved.

Any help here would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in Advance

Gary.

Hi

Welcome to the forums Turbo!

None of the tech guys (or gals) are on currently but I'm sure that someone will be around sooner or later. :-) Sit tight and good luck!

PJ

Is your CDRom set up on IDE2 or as a slave to the primary hard drive (i.e: on the same cable as the hard drive)?

Is the drive jumper set to master on the CD Rom?
