Default [Resolved] Access probs

Hello

A friend asked me to have a look at his computer because he was having a few problems with it but i'm stumped!

When you click my documents the computer will freeze indefinetly with no other way to restart it other than turn the power off at the socket.

same thing happens when a cd is entered into the drive

tried online virus scans found two virus' but still having the same problem

he's running windows 98se

Hya 1878, welcome to PCHF.

Give this a try:

1.Click Start, point to Programs, point to Accessories, point to System Tools, click System Information, and then click System File Checker on the Tools menu.

2.Click the following option:

Scan For Altered Files

3.Click Settings, choose the configuration you want to use in System File Checker Settings, click OK, and then click Start.
Or to have a look for malware problems, please click on the 'Prework' link below in my sig, follow those instructions and post the resulting 2 log files.
