Default [Resolved] 98se boot error

I'm helping a coworker with a problem,so my responses could take a while. Please be patient. On bootup he gets this error-
"Internet Explorer script error. An error has occured in the script on this page.
Line 51
Char. 2
Error: Auto server can't creat object.
Code:0
url:file//c:\program files\ISP 50\hta\station.sort
Do you want to continue running scripts on this page
Yes No"
Ok? again, this is on bootup. He says that he can get it to go away by clicking on Yes 5 or 6 times. Then computer works ok.But it always comes up at bootup. He did say that when he signs onto the internet(dialup) he gets other similar errors.he did not give me those yet. Thanks for any help.

On boot up, IE shouldn't have anything going at all. Has this co-worker gone into the system info area of SE and looked at what is trying to load at start up? If not, that is the first place he/she should go. It is also possible that you have a spyware bug in there that wants to automatically, at boot and after logging in, access the 'net. Start, programs, accessories, system tools, system information. In that window, click on Tools, then System configuration Utility. Click the Startup tab and expand that window. You might be surprised as to what you find loading that doesn't need to. Or shouldn't at all! Anything that does not need to load at boot, uncheck, including things like Findfast, (major memory hog!!)Office, (depending on version, or if you have) and you will have to re-start. Do it all over again and make sure that it all stays off. 98SE is just wonderful for putting things back in that you may not want. Hope this helps... otherwise, I'm gonna just follow my signature and keep my trap shut!!

Default Update

My coworker has looked into some of these things on his machine. He got missing or corrupt file errors. It told him to install disc and do a repair. There was some problems with that but he did get it to work after multiple try's.This fixed the boot error.I'm still waiting to hear back about the IE errors. Thanks for your patience.

so this morning the guy says that the computer is all messed up again.so I start from the beginning with the questions about his computer setup.Different story this time.No firewall,no antispy app.,norton not paid for a few years.Wish I knew this at the beginning. So consider this issue closed for now.I need to educate the guy first.Thanks.
