Hey Chris,

Another thought, I ordinarilly would not send you to another forum, but all of the searches I have been doing to find anyone who has tried this before lead me to a site called Tek-Tips, I am not positive that they have the answer you are looking for, but they have people working with xu2000, and may have some advice.

I want to make sure that you get the best advice, in the most expedient manner possible, and with so many people out right now, that may not be possible here.

In regard to your question about PCI serial port cards, yes they are available. Here is are a few locataions, Perle, EasySync, Cables to Go.

Looking forward to your reply,

Hi Chris,

It isn't a program, it is a process. Microsoft has a good instruction manual on how to proceed. Dual Boot System.

Hey Chris,

Sorry M8, but I've just never had a resize work out. Especially with XP, it is just too darn persnikety. If you are going to do it, I would really reccomend going the safe way, and repartition. I think in the long run you will be much happier that you did.

Ok, thanks. From what I understand about xu2000 it won't run in a windows environment. Only DOS can be running, so dual boot won't help. Any progress on that boot disk? Would it help if i sent you the drivers I have?

Chris,

A dual boot is the only way you are going to GET a DOS environment. Having 98 installed in it's own seperate partition, lays down DOS on that bootup. XP runs its environment when you boot into XP. You don't run them simultaneously.

In order for a bootdisk to work, it would have to be told to recognize your USB port, and run the drivers for the serial to work. You can get any bootdisk you want at Bootdisk.com, I just don't think that's going to work for you.

Have you checked out the Tek Tips site, and checked with their xu2000 guys?

Looking forward to your reply, (it will be really interesting to see how this turns out. )
