What should be included in these two files, because both of my files are empty? Is there a program or software that I can download to put information into these two files?

What version of Windows are you using?

You could edtit them trough start/run/sysedit , but there doesn't have to be info in there , mine are empty to.

What kind of info would you want to add to them , and why?

I am running win98 se... I am trying to get my CD-ROM Drive to work, and have tried everything I know how to get it going. I downloaded the win98se oem bootdisk, but when I start my system from the boot floppy I get a message stating "No Device Found, Aborting Installation."

I just thought maybe there was something missing in my config.sys and/or autoexec files that lets the computer know I have a cd-rom installed.

Any ideas or solutions?

Thanks for the reply, I just thought information needed to be included in the config.sys and/or autoexec to get my ATAPI IDE CD-ROM Drive to work. I cannot seem to get this drive working; it is not listed at all in my device manager. I downloaded and saved the win98 SE OEM version of bootdisk to a floppy, but when the systems boots from the floppy I am getting an error stating that No Device Drive Found, Aborting Installation.

Any ideas or solutions?

Try this in your autoexec.bat:
"LH C:\WINDOWS\COMMAND\MSCDEX.EXE /D:MSCD0001" - will load the default/generic CD rom drivers.
