Question [Resolved] Upgrade to XP Secure Remote Problem

I am in the process of upgrading from Windows ME to Windows XP.
During the upgrade, the Advisor Report tells me that I need to remove a software by the name of Secure Remote. I have no idea what that is and it is not listed when I tried the Add/Remove software icon in Control Panel.
I have also search for this name or a variation of it in the Windows and Program Files directories.
Does anyone have an idea what this is and/or how to remove it?
I have spent close to 8 hours getting the PC ready and the upgrade will not continue until I get rid of this program.
Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.
Lou

Hi Lou!

Welcome to PCHF. My friend, you have hit the jackpot, I can walk you through EXACTLY what you need to do for your upgrade, specifically because, once upon a time, I was you, , well at least in your place. Oh, and by the way, congratulations on your most intelligent move away from ME! You will be so much happier with XP, I guarantee.

First of all I need a little information, what are you using for your upgrade to XP? Have you backed up all relevant documents, pictures, etc? You will need to back up any and everything that you want to save, the move from ME to XP is not pretty. 8)

After you post, I will direct you to the most efficient way to have XP installed on your computer, and walk you through the steps you will need to take in order to get there.

Looking forward to your reply,

TTFN

Thank you. Found that Microsoft has a incident report on this issue. I had to delete a file named FWENC.EXE (VPN Checkpoint) and the installation completed without any other issues. Running XP now. Thanks for your offer to help.
