if you just wan't the music of the hard drive ask a friend to put it into there machine and set the hard drive with the music on it to slave then boot the machine and copy the music to a disc useing your friends computer OS. this is probley the easyist way to save your music with out doing to much complicated stuff. if ive confused you please say and i will try to explain my self better. then if you wan't you get some thing like 2000 pro and put it on the computer as that is a much more stable OS thats if you still want the machine.


when i had ME it never crashed on me it's amaing and i had it for 4 years i think hardware failed in it before the OS did does not happen often that must mean i was one of the lucky ones.

Thank you for that bit of advice... I do not have the boot disk for me..at least for a compaq.... i tried to get to a dos mode.. and it is dead... so.. there is really nothing i can do ??? I do have a gateway restore disk with ME ... would that at least .. get me to a cmd prompt ... *looksfrantically for the restore disk***... ?
