If you remove the HD from the bootorder and set it to boot from the cd , then if the cd is not bootable then you would get an error like that.

Set it like this:

A: floppie
B: cd/dvd
C: HD

yes i have the hd in bootorder but i cant set it in that order these are my choices

hd,cd,floppy
cd,hd,floppy
hd only

i have a couple more chopices but nothing that i understand

when i try to boot with cd,hd,floppy i get an error when it tries to read cd it says

boot from atapi cd-rom : failure
remove disks or other media .
press any key to restart

i got it figured out now and i am installing win98 se thanks joe and asa for all your help as usual and my thread can be marked as answered or fixed
