Default [Resolved] power loss during c: format

My daughter returned my computer in sad shape. I think she deleted drivers or something. It says it cant regonize the hard drive or the hard drive isnt working right. I decided to try and format c: and start over when the computer lost power. I've managed to get back to comand prompt to try and format c: but keep geting bad comand or file name. any ideas thanks

Hi roper!
Welcome to PC Helpforum!

So can you give us the exact error message?
Also, do you get the message shortly after turning on your PC, before it's able to load Windows?

Blue

Hya Roper.

What O.S. do you use? And can you boot of youre windows disc?

I think the best thing to do is boot from the windows cd or a bootdisk and then delete the existing partition(s) , recreate them and then format and install windows.

If that doesn't work the you can try to formatt the HD with this app from floppie:

http://www.killdisk.com/downloadfree.htm

And then try to install windows.

Also maybe the cmos has to be reset , you can do that by removing the pc's powercord and then the motherboards battery for a minute , then replace them and start the pc again.

Have a look in youre bios to see how the bios is setup atm. To be able to boot from floppie and/or cd it should be:

A: floppie
B: cd/dvd
C: HD

Then try to boot from cd or floppie again , you should be able to just boot of the windows disc then and format/install that way.

Have a look here for step by step instructions on it:
