o.k, while your computers starting up hold down ctrl, select command prompt only, type Format c: and press y, this will format you harddrive, when it asks for a volume name just press enter, when that is complete type chkdsk, well i think its chkdsk, see its a long time since i used 98, if not try scandsk, allow to scan then try install again.

Dave
I did try what you told me but I did do something that may have messed things up a bit more then I said. The guy I got this comp from tried to delete a bunch of stuff off of it before he gave it to me ..taxs.etc... Well when I tried to restore and it did not work I thought that perhaps he deleted more then he should have. Wellllll what I did was I upgraded it to XP pro hoping that it would install a missing command..etc.. and then try the restore back to Win 98 which of course did not work. So I did try to do what you had just written me but it didn't work and perhaps it was because of what I did. So...what I have now is xp pro on a comp that really can't handle it BUT it does work...just a tad slow

Anymore Ideas for the mentally challenged???
Thx

What I would like to end up with on this computer is to restore it back to its orignal OS which is Win 98 and I have the CD to do so but the computer freezes up when I try to do so. Anyone with anymore ideas??
Thx
MacMan
