Default [Fixed] Display Adapter Problem

Hello.

I just installed Windows 98 SE on an old PC and I have a display adapter problem and because of it i cannot run windows in normal mode, I have to do either Safe Mode or Selective Startup with only system.ini enabled. Because of this I only have 16 Colors and a 640 x 480 (480 I think..) resolution. I have an S3 Trio64V2-DX/GX (775/785), I think...

How can I overcome this problem? Please help, I want this PC to operate normally.

Hya P123.

Give this driver a try:

Or have a look if this tool can help:

Hello again, Thanks for your reply.

However, the drivers are already installed and it still does not function properly. I even had a spare video adapter and I installed that, now I have a choice between 2 and 16 colors and can only view the screen in 640 x 480 resolution. It is quite frustrating.

Can you try using the S3 graphics card for now, so we don't get too confused.

So install the card and boot into windows, then check the device manager, do you have any yellow exclamation marks or any uninstalled drivers relating to your video card.

If you do then right click on it and go to properties, then update the driver and point it to the location of the files you downloaded.

Thank you Joe5 and Zimbo for helping me resolve this problem.

I still have an unknown device with a yellow question mark under Other Devices but that's not too serious of a problem. Thanks once again. I just updated the driver and the computer said that a better driver is already installed (What a lie!) but after updating it worked.
