Default [Resolved] Icons have gone black

on one of the computers at dads work there is a machine running windows 98. Lately the desktop shortcuts have become black. so where there would normally be the internet explorer logo on the shortcut for example it is justa black square but the actual shortcut still works. Does anyone know what could cause this or is the best way just to redo the shortcuts? or is it just a bad setting?

Hope to here from u guys soon

thx JD:computer1

Hi,

2 things to try here;

i) Re-install the graphics card driver.

ii)
1. On the Start menu, point to Settings and then click Control Panel.
2. Double-click the Display icon.
3. In the Display Properties dialog box, click the Settings tab.
4. Click Advanced and then click the Performance tab.
5. Set the Hardware Graphics setting to None.
6. Click Apply and then click OK.
7. Click Close.
8. When prompted to restart the computer, click Yes.
