Windows 95, 98 & ME - [Resolved] Help finding deleted files posted in the Operating Systems forums; New at this wondering if someone may be able to help me find some files which i saved to cd and then deleted from the computer about 3 months ago. ...

Unhappy [Resolved] Help finding deleted files

New at this wondering if someone may be able to help me find some files which i saved to cd and then deleted from the computer about 3 months ago. Cant find the cd anymore has some photographs that i wouldn't mind finding. The trash has been deleted a couple of times and the computer has been defragmented I am running Windows 98 and i am not a computer wizz. Are the files still there to be found ?? Thanks 99Lynne

Thanks heaps downloaded pc inspector from the net but couldn't find the missing files i susspect defragmenting the computer didn't help with this I guess I will just have to sucome to the fact that they are gone ...for good. But thanks anyhow now I have another problem I suspect whilst using pc inspector i may have done something and now cds will not play in drive D:/ and drive E:/ says D:/ is not accessable this folder has been moved or removed How do I get them back ??? :undecided

the files only stay on your computer till they are replaced witch i think has been done so there is no way to get them back if they have

Yes thats right, the files will not be completely gone from the hard disk until the computer needs the space.

Hey Guys,

@Joe and Zerodragon, thanks for helping out guys.

@99Lynne, it is possible that something got deleted or corrupted. Make sure that you have your Win98 CD in the drive, and go to Start, Run, type in sfc /scannow , then hit Enter. This utility will look for any missing or corrupt system files and replace them from your OS cd.

BTW, it is not free, but here is a utility designed for exactly what you originally asked about
File Recover for Win98
