I'm having a hard time with a Gateway PC Select 1100 that I bought at a yard sale. Originally the OS was ME, but didn't come with de CD. The manufacturer won't sale me the Automatic System Recovery. I erased the hard drive and tried to install WindowsXP. The PC kept freezing a few minutes into the process, several times. The same thing happened when I tried Windows 2000. With a lot of effort I was able to install Windows 98SE. The PC boots OK, but freezes often when performing different tasks. Udated the bios to its latest upgrade and has plenty of ram. Most likely, I think I need help obtaing all necessary drivers corresponding to this unit.

Could you please post your system specifications?
Could you also try to specificate the drivers you need?

My Welcome to you as well. When you tried to do the other installs, had you run the Chkdisk and/or Fdisk utilities prior to install? From experience, I can tell you that PCs originally loaded with ME can be a bit tricky to wipe completely, and reformatting is critical.
