Default [Answered] Orange Gateway Power indicator

I tried to add a salve HD to my Gateway PIII system. All I did was plug in the slave drive (jumper is set for slave). Now when I power up all I get is a orange power on light. The fan runs and the CD player goes through it's normal sequence but nothing boots up. I reseated all visable plugs etc but nothing, screen never illuminates

 Hi Ted,

Welcome to PCHF. We have a wonderful staff of techs on site, and I am sure that we will be able to help you figure this out.

Unfortunately, hardware is not my area of expertise, but I know that several of our hardware gurus will be along shortly. Keep an eye out for their posts, and don't panic. :cheesy:

Howdy ted,
According to gateways support the orange light indicates a failed power supply or overload, with a voltage loss to the motherboard. If unplugging all drives does not solve the problem then the power supply needs to be replaced, if the problem clears with the drivesunpluggedthen reconnect them one at a time to find which one is causing the problem.
