Yeah, just to clarify, you use FDISK BEFORE format.

i have done this over and over im still coming up with insufficent memory when i hit format C: what is this

hmmm...your master boot record could be corrupt. Try this:

type the following at the MS-DOS prompt.
fdisk /mbr <press enter> (there is a space between fdisk and the / symbol)
format c: /u <press enter>
(there is a space between c: and the / symbol)

Then try to format again

Do you have access to a cd/rw? You cna download this bootdisk, (best out there) burn it to cd and slip it in your cd rom and let it load and have it do its auto tools to find what is wrong with your disk or anything. If not it will format it for you.

its still coming back insufficent memory i did as you asked fdisk /mbr at a prompt and it went to a prompt again then i typed in format c: /u it said all data on non removable disk c will be lost proceed y/n i said yes then insufficent memory .

so all i need do is put this in the cd rom even though the pc wont boot to windows and it will work.
