Default Getting into your BIOS

Hi Faith,

OK, when your computer is just starting to boot, to get into your BIOS, you need to tap on one of these keys, it varies by PC manufacturer, it is usually either F10, F11, or Esc. This will bring up your BIOS. The top menu bar should list Storage as one of the items. As you do not have mouse functionality in this area, you need to use your arrow keys to move through the menus.

You are looking for Storage, on my PC it is the second from the left on the menu bar, so I right arrow over one, and then down arrow to IDE Self test. The chances are your PC will be set up differently and I have no idea how.

Look forward to your reply,

TTFN

Exclamation still stoned cold 98

:computer_ i haven't received a solution to my problem as of yet ,tj suggested IDE self test ,when i hit the delete key to enter bios theres no such place that states storage as he was referring to ,tj named f11 f10 to enter bios the only key i know of to enter bios is the delete key . I try ed in ms-dos to format it does it's thing but gets to 11 percent and says not enough memory to continue and when i try doing the chkdsk as Hengis suggested it comes back with type in scan disk instead and Ive done this but it gets to 11 percent and then a Grey box appears and says theres and error in your fat c data cannot fix error ,how do i wipe it out completely and start over i have a startup disk and 98 CD disk too. When i hit restart and the PC boots it just sits there with 98 logo on screen so the only thing i can get to is ms-dos or bios only bios if i hit delete for setup, ms-dos if i run boot disk :icon_scra :undecided

Ok, to completely start again and wipe the disk you will need to use FDisk (should be on your bootdisk). Here is a detailed walkthru for FDisk: http://www.computerhope.com/sfdisk1.htm

Once you have done that you will need to carry out a format on the drive and then continue with your install. Please be aware that both of these proceedures will remove all data from your hard drive.
