Hi there FC, wow, sorry we didn't come back to you on this...how remiss of us
If you are doing a completely clean install of Windows XP then there will be no need for the other drive to be in there at all - however, if you want data contained on it AFTER the XP install then you can leave it in there as the SLAVE drive (you will need to set the jumper on the back of the drive to reflect this (see Zimbo's excellent tutorial here:

As above if this is a new install, then you need to go into your BIOS (ask if you need help) and set the 1st boot device as your CD Rom. Then place the XP cd into the CD tray and switch on the PC. Print and use this guide:
