Hi there FC, wow, sorry we didn't come back to you on this...how remiss of us

If you are doing a completely clean install of Windows XP then there will be no need for the other drive to be in there at all - however, if you want data contained on it AFTER the XP install then you can leave it in there as the SLAVE drive (you will need to set the jumper on the back of the drive to reflect this (see Zimbo's excellent tutorial here: http://www.pchelpforum.com/tutorials...e-your-pc.html)

As above if this is a new install, then you need to go into your BIOS (ask if you need help) and set the 1st boot device as your CD Rom. Then place the XP cd into the CD tray and switch on the PC. Print and use this guide: http://www.webtree.ca/windowsxp/clean_install.htm (Starting at the "
If your computer is capable of booting from a CD-ROM drive and you would rather install using this method, then:" part)

Obviously, if you have any problems with any of this, come back to us

Hya FC , you can get the big drive enabler here:

Big Drive Enabler

And in youre bios (keep tapping "delete" to get in youre bios) check if the "bootorder" is set like this:

Default All done & dusted

Hi again guys.

Thought I'd let you know I'm back online again.
Thanks to all your help & advice I got the new hard drive & XP installed without a problem.
I had no sound on the speakers but thats now sorted.
The delay was due to my system & the Wanadoo live box ADSL not being compatable. This was sorted by having an ethernet adapter fitted & telecom fitting a new phone line to my home.

So a big thanks to all who helped, you made it so much easier for a first timer.
I won't be disapearing I'm here to stay.

Merci beaucoup.

Dave
