Didn't really know where to post this
My Uncle has recently given my son an old lap top of his. Infact its ancient. But he seems obsessed with getting it to work again.
It has Windows 95 but everytime he turns it on there is an error message displaying "operating system cannot be found" I have the disks to boot the laptop from but when i try to select a different boot device i am asked for a password.
Is there any way of erasing/deleting the password etc.
Many Thanks
Matt

If you guys feel comfortable opening the case of the laptop try these instructions:

Be sure to let me know if they work .

Laptops are not easy to adjust. If you see any flat round battery try to move that out en back in again. Your BIOS will be reseted.

There is a list of generic passwords you can try...

What you are looking for is a dipswitch, odds are it will be under the keyboard or in the back, sometimes in the memory compartment. It can be labled anything but there is a good chance it will look like one of these: CLEAR - CLEAR CMOS - CLR - CLRPWD - PASSWD - PASSWORD - PWD
