I'm still not quite sure how I go about removing ME so I can do a clean install...how do I actually take ME out and what do I do from there to make sure it is out...

I am still learning how to do this stuff...

how much RAM do you think would be best so I can do about 10 things at once without having to worry about everything freezing up?

When you install XP it will format and get rid of ME by itself.. Dont do an upgrade install! You will run into problem's...As for Ram hmmm it would be safe to say 256 if you dont do much but email internet play a few games etc... but 512 megs is best. If you have any questions about what ram you need let me know

ok, so what XP is the best one to get...I know they have at least a couple different ones...

I probably put as much RAM as I can in. I like to play with graphic and animations and they like to use my memory up...but then I usually have at least 4 or 5 web sites open, messenger, works, and all the background programs..maybe thats why I keep freezing???

I read somewhere that you need your previous wiondows disk when you install xp and that the restore disk won't work...is that just if you upgrade and not a clean install?

hmmmm I forgot you only have the restore disc.... Does it have a logo of ME on it?? If not then no you have to buy a full version, but there cheap online here is where I buy most of my stuff... But if you go to walmart or other stores they wanna charge ya 150.00 bucks just for the upgreade version

And for Ram yes 512 will do ya good, and 1 gigabyte will have you set. But that might be overkill for ya?
