For XP , go to: control panel/performance and maintenance/system/automatic updates and select "turn of automatic updates"

I hope its the same for ME...

Found it under automatic updates and changed

But I think I have much bigger problems. I got the blue screen and after rebooting a few times still couldnt get anywhere and finally have got in.

Can you tellme if this is related to 2 files that come up on Ad-Aware that i cannot remove, i've tried , thru windows explorer, safe mode, kill box !!
