Windows 95, 98 & ME - [Pending] my pc wont start posted in the Operating Systems forums; whenever i turn on my windows 98 pc a message comes up saying searching for boot record from floppy...not found invalid system disk, replace the disk then press any key ...

Firstly - check that the connection on the back of the floppy drive and the hard drive/CD rom is ok.

Next, go into your bios and check the boot up sequence - change it to hard drive - floppy - cd rom

Well, the first one is straight forward - open your case and physically check the cables are seated correctly.

The second part requires you to tell us your exact motherboard and model number - this will enable us to tell yuo the keystroke you need upon boot to access the bios menu.

There isn't still a floppy in youre floppy drive is it? if it is then remove it and reboot.

i opened the case and checked that the floppy sdrive was connected properly, which it was. i checked the drive itself to see if there was a disk in it, there wasnt. but i am not sure how to check what kind of motherboard i have.

Try tapping "delete" when booting to get in youre bios.
