Default [Fixed] Downloading trouble

I'm having trouble downloading from some secured sites. I have run adaware and malaware programs, completely removed my firewall, checked for viruses but none of this has helped! I have just changed from dial up to adsl but my sp (service provider) says that has nothing to do with it. When I try to download I receive internet exp on the tool bar. I'm new to all this, can someone please help me.

Hello and welcome scrappy

What Operating System are you running?

You say you are trying to download from a secured site, is it an FTP site or just a standard HTTP.

Were you able to download from that site when you were using Dial-up?

When I try to download I receive internet exp on the tool bar
Would you be able to give us the exact error message that is displayed when you try to download, alternatively you could take a screen shot of it and post it on the forum.

--To take a screen shot press "PrtScn" on the keyboard, then open word and click "Edit" - "Paste". Save document and attach --

Thanx for the reply!
I'm running Windows 98 SE
Im not too sure on what you mean by FTP or HTTP sorry. I was able to download from all these sites with dial-up. The sites are banking, emails and neopets ect.
It just says error on page at the bottom and when you click on that and then click on details it says Error: The callee( server( not server application)) is not available and disappeared, all connections are invalid, the call did not execute.
Code: 0
I hope that helps!
thanx again

Thanks for that, I have done some research and it looks like it is one of two things:

It is either a pop-up blocker that is causing the page not to open:
Do you have any toolbars that don't come standard with windows e.g. hotbar / websearch

Or you have spyware on your machine.

The best possible fix for both of these is firstly to identify whether you have any additional toolbars. Go into Add/Remove programs and if there are any toolbars within there then remove them.

Install Spybot, upgrade it and then run.

Try boot into safe mode and run Spybot from within there.

Could run MSCONFIG, basically click on START --- RUN and type MSCONFIG and press ENTER.

Make sure there are any funny entries within there, especially under the Startup section. If you are unsure about what should be in there then take a screen shot and post it on the forum for us to check.

Also might be worth checking your security level in your internet explorer and try to drop it down a level.

Can i just point out Zimbo, and im glad that you raised this point. If you are running Windows 95 or the First Edition of Windows 98, then you will need to download msconfig as Microsoft didnt include it with the above mentioned operating systems.
