I need all the help i can get. Just recently my pc has just been crashing non-stop...i haven't changed anything recently and haven't installed anything new, but my computer is literally crashing intsaneously, i'm risking it writing this message! I don't know what's going on, i've defragged, tried virus scan (but it crashed), disk cleanup (crashed), scandisk (just won't work) and i've deleted as much as i can from the hard disk, i've had more loaded up before and it hasn't done this. I've got a 20gb hard drive, 192mb of ram, intel celeron 700mhz processor, windows ME (obviously) - really ****, i know. Please could someone help? ITS URGENT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

We need to determine whether this is software or hardware causing the problem, more likely to be software.

First things first, we should make sure your machine isn't running any spyware or viruses so the best thing to do would be to download these two programs if you can.

Spybot

Download / install and run the updates.

AVG Antivirus
http://free.grisoft.com/freeweb.php/doc/2/lng/us/tpl/v5
Download / Install and update.

Now that you have both of these programs on your system, reboot your machine into safe mode and run Spybot first and then the AVG.

it's looking good so far...i think that spybot software did the trick, thanks alot mate. I'll come back if it goes wrong again
