Default [Fixed] No sound?

Hi and welcome to PC Help Forum.

Ok, "no sound device installed"...well it can realistically only be a couple of things.

1) No Sound card/ Faulty sound card
2) The drivers (software) hasn't been installed for the PC correctly (or at all!)

The first thing you need to do is tell us the EXACT make & model number of your PC (asuming it's not a "home-build").

Default No sound?

Hi Hengis,
I have a Toshiba v3100 about 5 yrs old. I bought it new through peoplepc.
I have Windows 98 2nd edition
I have had sound the entire time that I have owned it untill about a month ago. My son was using the computer, is there any chance could have erased it?
I can't find the "no sound device installed" again, can you tell me where I found it?
This is all Greek to me!
Thanks a lot.

I think it could be a simple case of driver re-installation.

I have put the file that you need (SD_AU8810_Win9x.exe - for Toshiba V3100 Onboard) into the Download section of this site HERE.

You will need to do the following:

1) Download the file
2) Double-Click on it and extract it to a place you are gonna remember (i.e: c:\sounddrivers)
3) Click on "Start" > Run > c:\sounddrivers\AU10Setp.exe and follow the on-screen instructions.

Let us know how you get on.

That is great newsfor you perdidojoe - having no sound at all can be really annoying, I had it happen to me before. It was like watching TV with mute switched on :smt009
