Hi all, just came here to ask why is it that when I try to open my HTML file in Internet Explorer, which I created in note pad, it comes up with the code I typed it rather than displaying the actual page?

Like for example I typed in this...

<html>
<head><title>Interspecies Conflict Videos</title></head>
<body>
<div align="center">
<img src="web logo.jpg" alt="Web Header" />
</div>
</body>
</html>

And all I got was the code you see above you, there was no picture or anything.

Create and save it in Word

But the book I am learning HTML from specifically says do not use word.

Could anybody else help me?

When you are saving the file, make sure you make the title NAME.html and make sure you have the drop down box that says Save as type is set to All files.

Ah cheers mate, that has sorted it!

Yep it might be an idea to uncheck Hide Extensions for Known File Types in Folder Options, so then you can rename it from .txt to .html easily.

I can't remember where that is exactly on XP (if you are using XP) but its somewhere on Windows Explorer along the top menu. Possibly under tools?
