Hello PCHF

My question is pretty straightforward. I've been wanting to start a webpage where students in my college (and potentially others) could either upload their schedules or copy/paste them onto a timetable for all their friends to be able to access. The problem is I know nothing about web design and really need a lot of help on this. Firstly, how do I go about getting a website for free, and if not, would it be easier to create a Facebook application? In other words, what languages will I have to learn, and what would you do in my position?

Hey mate.

You would be best learning XHTML/CSS and a bit of PHP couldn't hurt.

Personally what I would do (and did for my college schedule) is let the students put their schedule up on Google calender and you could just create an index of that which the students can browse.

What exactly is it your looking for in more detail? do you want things as user authentication etc or are you just looking for a way to dump/index the schedules?

Thanks! Actually I was just looking for something simple where any student can join, I'm thinking about just adding a simple search function where you can find timetables that were already filled by other students who gave in their information for the search.

I really like the gcal idea too, never thought of that.
