Hey,

If you're new to web development, you shouldn't even be near Dreamweaver (not to say I don't understand why you'd buy it knowing nothing about web dev but how you acquired it will be left off these forums).

I would use Microsoft Frontpage if I were you, it's not super powerful and flexible, but it'll be much easier for you to get a grasp on web dev.

As for why your template shows screwed up, I'm not sure, have you tried previwing it in InternetExplorer/FireFox and seeing if it's still screwy?

hi. thanks for your quick reply. i was taught how to update our office website using dreamweaver mx and that inspired me to use it as well for my personal site. i was able to download some templates which i may say WYSIWYG. because i just dragged and dropped images after i changed the size according to the image size of the template. and what i downloaded this time is complicated. i checked the index.htm file on i-net xplorer and looked good. but when i finally decided to make another website using that template, i don't know where to start editing. can i include a swf object in frontpage? thanks again.

You should be able to, I think the latest version of Frontpage is now called Expression Web, but I believe boh describe SWF objects as plugins, so you have to play around with it a bit, but I've made it work before, and you can always use embedding or object codes and manually type it in

Personally, I would avoid WYSIWYG editors alltogether. At this point in learning how to design websites, you need to be getting familiar with HTML, not letting Dreamweaver or Frontpage do all the work for you.
