Default How can I fully tap all of my iPod's features?

By scrolling through your main menu, you can see all the awesome features that come with your iPod. In this tutorial, you can find info on how to use the lesser-known features, and hopefully learn a few iPod tricks that will make your iPod usage all the more easier.

Playlists

Under playlists, you will find either your playlists that you have dowloaded from iTunes, or an On-The-Go playlist. The On-The-Go playlist is a great feature that allows you to create a playlist away from your computer. In order to make an On-The-Go playlist:
First, go to browse.
Next, highlight either a specific song, artist, or album.
Hold down on select (the center button) until the title of the song, album or artist name flashes. The flashing means that the music has been added to your On-The-Go playlist.
To hear your On-The-Go playlist, go back to playlists, and select On-The-Go, and you should be all set.

If you change your mind, and decide you want a new On-The-Go playlist, select playlists> On-The-Go> and then Clear Playlist. For those with the new Generation 4 iPod, you are lucky enough to be able to create mulitple On-The-Go playlists.

Browse

The browse feature sorts your music by artists, albums, songs, genres, or composers. In addition, under the artists heading, your iPod gives you the option to see all the artist's music at once or to choose a specific album of the artist's.

Extras

Extras is home to a lot of the super cool iPod features. Under extras, you can set your iPod alarm clock or sleep timer, download notes from your PC or MAC and play games. Additionally, if you have a Mac, you are able to Sync your iPod with your iCal and Mac OS Address Book. Here's how:
To use your iPod as an alarm clock:
Select Extras> Clock> Alarm Clock.
Set Alarm to on at whatever time you'd like to be awoken at.
Select what sound you'd like to wake up to. You can either choose one of your playlists or a regular, beeping sound. If you choose a playlist, you need to connect your iPod to speakers or headphones to hear it, while if you choose a beeping sound, you will be able to hear it without headphones.

To set your iPod sleep timer (allows you to fall asleep listening to music for a set amount of time):
Select Extras> Clock> Sleep Timer.
Input what time you'd like. An icon will countdown the number of minutes left on your Now Playing screen.

To use your iPod as a hard drive so you can download notes (for PC's):
Plug your iPod into the computer.
Click on the options button at the bottom right of your iTunes screen. (It looks like a little iPod)
Select "Enable disk use."
Save your document in any word-processing application as a text (.txt) file.
Drag the file to your iPod drive under My Computer.

To download your iCal calendar or Addressbook:
Plug your iPod into your Mac.
Open iSync, click Devices> Add Device.
Select iPod and click Sync Now. This imports your iCal and Mac OS X Address Book to your iPod under Caledar and Contacts.
To update your information, plug your iPod into your computer again, open iSync and click Sync Now.

Settings

Under Settings, you can control the Main Menu, Repeat, Shuffle, Backlight timer, Screen Contrast, Date & Time, and Language.
To add frequently used items, such as Songs or Albums, to your main menu for easy access:
1)Go to Settings> Main Menu.
2)Select which items you'd either like to be On or Off your Main Menu.

To use your backlight timer without having it set to on, hold down on Menu for about six seconds or until it turns on. Holding down on menu again will turn the backlight off.
To set your iPod to display the time in the title bar on the Now Playing Screen:
1)Select Settings> Date & Time.
2)Change settings so that Time in Title is switched to on.

Other cool features!

1)While a song is playing, hit select two times. This should show the song with 5 dots underneath it.
2)Scroll with the wheel until the desired amount of stars appear.
3)Hit Select. This will save your rating both on your iPod AND onto iTunes once you plug your iPod back into your computer.
