I use Windows XP so I don't need a ZIP utility but if you really want compression, I highly recommend using RAR. RAR is THE BEST compression.

I use Total Commander instead of the explorer. I can see two drives or locations at once, look at zip files and even ftp from there. A small program with tons of power.!
