Question From Apple to Microsoft?

On an ibook Mac OS 9.2, can I wipe out that version of mac and totaly replace it with Windows XP instead of having a old Mac os on there? What is the latest mac I can run on that laptop if I can't put windows on there? What all do I need to do to make that happen?

You'll need to upgrade to OSX Leopard first before you can add a Windows-based OS on your iBook. You could also get Tiger but Leopard is the latest.

So I just can't do a total wipe of mac os if I don't want it anymore on this computer and just put windows on it? What will happen if I just load windows wiping mac completely and where can I get those os's from apple and how nuch do they run for?

I highly doubt it, Macs use a different boot system and a completely different file system, not only will the XP disc not read the hard drive, but it most likely won't be able to use the specialized motherboard and CPU, unless you have an intel chip in there, but still highly unlikely. If you did somehow manage miraculously to install it, you'd be stuffed anyways as I don't believe there are any drivers for iBooks.

Leopard runs for 150$ retail.

I'd take your iBook to an apple store and ask them if it'll run Leopard or if you should get an earlier version of OSX.

Personally I've ran OSX Tiger on an iBook, a G3 and a G4, so you shouldn't have performance issues

I think I would put tiger on there. Where would I purchase them at?

I'm on a mobile device so can't really check for you, I'd try an apple store, newegg, apple website, or any other online retailer, or ebay even of you want, should be fairly easy to find. You can use www.froogle.com as well
