Default RAM issue

Currently my pc contains 2 gigs of RAM as stated below. I wanted to upgrade it to 4 gb. But when I had put all 4 banks into their slots and tried to boot my pc,it would freeze when it was loading windows (you know the part when you see this green loading bar). So I tried a couple of things. First thing I tried was taking out the 'old' banks and putting in the new ones instead, so I could see whether the new banks would be broken or not. But they weren't, windows booted normally. After that I tried them one at a time, worked perfectly. Nothing seemed to be wrong with the new banks of RAM. So I tried to change the timing of the RAM in the bios to 4-4-4-12 instead of 5-5-5-18 and put the voltage on 2,3. It didn't work. Windows will not boot with 4 banks of RAM in my Mobo. So I'm really stuck here. Should I reïnstall Windows, change something else in the bios. My hardware had to be able to handle these RAM banks. Please help me out...

Hello Kiwifor, welcome to PCHF.

Are all 4 sticks identical? Have you tried two sticks in the first two in slots 1 and 2, and then the same two sticks in slots 3 and 4? And then the same with the other two sticks?

I would suggest bringing up the timings for now to a 6 or 7 even. And lower the voltage. Maybe the PSUI cannot take it.Your board should be able to take 8 gigs of memory..
