selecting the rite graphics card 2 graphics cards in sli or 1 big beefy?

hi ive bin saving up £400 for a new graphics card(s) and i dident no which to get a geforce 8800gtx or 2 8800gts in sli? or would it be better to get a 8800gts and a ageia physX card?

also with my current set up i have Dual 256MB NVIDIA® GeForce™ 8600 GTS - SLI Enabled but when i went onto systemrequirementslab.com and tested for medieval 2: total war and it said this Video RAM: Required - 256 MB , You have - 246.0 MB
but i thought because i had dual 256mb it would be doubeld to 512mb?

Physx card's are completely useless imo. it wont be long before they are completely wiped from existance. a good CPU and GPU will be able to do thier jobs just as good, if not better as time goes on.

I take it your sticking with Nvidia?. if so i really wouldn't go with a dual card setup with them, too many compatability problems. if you stick with Nvidia just buy one card. you could pick up a decent card for that cash.
