Command and Conquer Tiberium Wars Error

HI,

I am receiving the error message "Make sure that you have Directx 9 or higher installed. Also verify that your video card meets the minimum requirements and that you do not have hardware acceleration disabled in the display control panel"

My system is a :

Pentium 4 , 2.8 Ghz
512 MB Ram
160 Gig Hard Drive
ATI Radeon 9600 PRO 256MB Ram
Windows XP Pro

I contacted EA and send them my DXDIAG file. I downloaded the latest catalyst software together with Direct X9 C as told by them and installed it.

They confirm that my system does meet the minimum requirements to play the game.

I am still unable to get this game to work after all the updates..

I am receving the same error message.

Does anyone have a solution for me??

I would...

1. Uninstall Tiberium Wars, restart computer
2. Install Direct X 9.0 again (no need to try to uninstall it), restart computer
3. If you feel so inclined, uninstall your video card drivers (in safe mode preferably), install latest driver (in regular mode), restart computer
4. Reinstall Tiberium Wars

If that doesn't solve the problem....

After that, the only thing I could think is either a repair install or a full format/reinstall of Windows. If that doesn't work...

New video card after that?

New machine after that?

Welcome to the PCHF.

I'm inclined to agree with Wadd.

However...I'd go further and say if the format doesn't work...avoid EA games

Can't say I'm a fan either, but Tiberium Wars is purty awesome. I just pray they don't destroy Warhammer Online now that they pwn Mythic.
