I do play mostly in UK servers! :o I should easily be able to play in a 64 man server with people constantly disconnecting/connecting because i used to do it in CoD:UO and i used to do it even with the demo of this game and that was even more unstable! My ping in most servers is never above 100... And when i'm in UK servers it's never above 50 so i don't think that will be the problem... Also particularly EA's official UK only game servers are a complete nono for me, most of the time i get booted during the connection to the server telling me "There is a problem with your connection" and if i'm lucky enough to get into these lag free UK only servers where everybody's ping is under 100, i get kicked within 5 minutes due to a "problem with your connection". :computer_

I was searching google for people who had the same problem as me to make me feel better and just to see if anybody had found a solution yet and as i was scrolling through i saw someone mention that some ISP's/modem have free firewalls built in or installed or something so i was just willing to try anything at this point so i asked here... I think downloading windows service pack 2 had something to do with it as well... I knew i shouldn't have downloaded it. -_-

yep windows SP2 has unremovable firewall (*maybe possible to remove, not sure) that might cause the problem or it could be the bad EA server connections

No windows firewall was disabled the moment i restarted my PC after installing SP2 so that definately isn't what is causing it.

- if you login to your user account (at ISP website) you can check for info.

- Its true that lag is not caused by anyfirewall, but its your connection. if you use 50Kbs it's very natural to have lag in BF2 . (note that some games require ping that are very low, eg: COD with ping 150 is ok but with COD 2 its not so... it depends on the game aswell.)

If the lag is contiuous or making it impossible to play, it is probally your connection being too slow you should have min 50 kb dowload and 20 kbs upload for lag free gameplay (* depends on the game)

psdon't download / update anything while playing)
