Hello everyone,
I am having problem when i try to uninstall Internet Download Manager 4.7.2. It always display "Unexpected Erro" whenever i press uninstall. I have been using IDM for age but i never sees anything like that. All the previous version that i had used never had any error or anything. I suspect thatsth is wrong with the soft, or the crack i applied to the soft( I download it from warez forum). Please give me some advice of what i can do.
Much thanks in advance

Hi there, Welcome to PCHF
![]() I'm not sure of the policies here regarding support for software that is either pirated or has cracks applied to such. I'm sure someone will confirm that either way. There's a good chance that this crack has altered or removed certain files that have subsequently rendered the uninstaller as useless. If you know, please let me know the filename of the crack used for I will locate and test it for malware. It is always possible that you have downloaded something that is not what it was advertised as, so there could be other problems aside of what you describe. Although I have located a file called WarezP2P_TDL.exe. If this is what you used, take note of the following results from Jotti's online virus scan for this file...

Mere Mortal, thanks a lot for the prompt reply.
Well, i'm not sure whether there is virus inside since i am not expert at computer. At first, i applied a registry key that come with the software(downloaded from the same board), it is not working. So i tried a crack, but this method is not working either. Then i ueds a keygen that automically input the key into registry, this method is working for a while. Now, the application is not working that is why i wanna uninstall it. I upload the crack, registry, and keygen here [link removed as per the Rules] in case if help determining the cause of my problem. Last edited by Mere_Mortal; 10-08-2005 at 11:21 AM. |

Well, as for the two executables with that download, Jotti says they "MIGHT BE INFECTED/MALWARE"
I have to be totally honest with you, it is something you need to consider if you wish to be a part of what we do in helping people secure their system. I noticed your post to the "Boot Camp" thread and immediately thought that the first thing you need to realise is that it's things like cracks and pirated software that are a major source of malware. It also goes against the very principal of Security. I'm not making any judgment here, just letting you know what I think. Aside of that, I still welcome you here and hopefully the management will do as well. Best Regards ![]() M_M |

Thanks again for the information. I totally understand the risk of using crack,keygen.. still i used the program because it is nesscessary for me. I am sorry if my post is against policys of the forum. My last resort woulde be formatting the hard drive, which i don't want to. Anyway, thanks again for the warm welcome.
Best Regards, Hometea |

No worries. I wouldn't like to see you have to format the drive if there's a solution at hand. The only thing I can honestly think of is to search the hard-drive and also the Registry for anything that relates to the application.
The best start would be checking the Registry key HKLM > Software to see what the exact name is for the program's entry. Then search the Registry for this value, deleting any you come across Remove it from Program Files and also check Document & Settings\Application Data and for all the user accounts. Also check Program Files\Common Files. The Registry can be accessed by going to Start > Run type REGEDIT Before making any alterations, see [here] for instructions on backing up the Registry. If you are not comfortable with editing the Registry, firstly acquire the name of this program in the Registry, as stated above. Download the attached and compressed file. Execute the script and enter into the textbox the value you have just acquired, then perform a search. A textfile will appear once complete, for which you can attach to this thread in and I will rewrite it so as to remove those entries that need to go. Regards, M_M |
