There going to be a forum opening with Win7 beta in anticipation for the final version so we can discuss our experiences/problems/etc?

The beta is coming the 5th though, would be neat to have a forum opened for it and later converted for the final version

I'd love to test a beta copy, but I think you have to be 5 cans short of a six pack in order to qualify to beta test. I give you Vista as proof.

    What's to test?

All we need do is tell them to get cracking on the service pack. :D

So quick to bash.. heh. I've yet to have a single problem on any of the 8 computers at home, including the family ones, as well as my work PC.

I have 2 computers running Win7 and it's even better than Vista

I haven't formed an opinion regarding Win 7 yet and am actually hoping for the same kind of performance and stability I've had with XP PRO.

Hard not to be aware of all the hassles and service packs that have come with past offerings though and you have to admit by now that Vista flopped. ;)

LordDark, no offense. But, by default, the Vista OS comes out of the box hiding half the its files and blocking users from doing anything with the other half.

How did you get beta copies of Win7?

7 has been performing better than XP so far.

I don't really see it as a flop personally, I like it a lot and prefer it by far to XP, I've been running it since the day it went retail on both 32bit and 64bit systems without a single problem.

DalfGan, XP is the same, it hides half it's files of a new install. UAC wasn't quite worked out for Vista, but I've only had to turn it off on my main system. To each his own I suppose.

Well of course, but so far Win7 has been extremely fast, even after installing all my programs and drivers (installed Vista drivers no prob), it's managing a 14second boot time (that's from Off to usable desktop) and a reboot barely takes more than 25secs.

Programs pop open as soon as they're clicked, the GUI is nicely tweaked and makes everything so much easier to access and use, settings are setup better, there's easier ways to customize the security center and the firewall, UAC, alerts, etc.

The only problem I found so far was it randomly started caching firefox pages so that when viewing a new URL, I'd have to scroll up to refresh the actual look of the page otherwise it'd still display the previous page, but it suddenly stopped doing that..

I had a few problems with my X-Fi drivers, but after setting the exe in the temp folder to run in compatibility with Vista, installed perfectly.

Networking has been made even easier from what I could tell.

I can probably give an even more in-depth description later :p

Just out of curiosity what are you using to cool that Q6600 at that speed?
